Bringin in da Cane 2

Bringin' in da Cane, is the story from the Barbados of long ago. Here we see a cane worker, taking his, donkey pulled wagon of cane, down Cherry Tree Hill to the Morgan Mills, plantation windmill.
If you enjoy art, you will enjoy some of my techniques in this work.  Go ahead, follow the line of sunlit grasses from the top of the knoll into the painting. The reddish tones on the right come to an end with donkey driver who wears red trousers.  I brought the sunlight down from the right side of the work and dropped it onto the road around the donkey cart.  Cherry Tree Hill is one of Barbado's visual highlights.

Napolean's Head Atlantic Coast, Barbados

This local formation has several  names; Napolean's Cap, Napolean's Hat and even Napolean's Head.

Speaking personally, I opt for the last name. The small cropped picture on the right gives good reason to see why this is likely the most accurate name of the the three.

The mount, is located along the Atlantic Coast of Barbados, near Barclay's Park. 'The Head',  is painted in violet, ochre, cadmium orange, burnt sienna, and titanium white.  All in all, it blends into a beautiful visual celebration of colour.

Home is Where the Heart Is

Sad is the heart of the Caribbean emigrant who leaves behind an old mother and travels abroad to a cold northern country.  Here we find the old one, returning from visiting, or from the Christian Mission Church or from shopping at Eddy's in Speightstown.

Hurry Home Baby

Go ahead - create the story behind this painting.  I enjoyed painting this work for it traces its beginnnings to a watercolour I did a couple of years ago.  This work has everything the watercolour lacked. It has dramatic lighting, colour, strength and a good story to make it complete.

Spinnakers Aflame

Spinnakers Aflame
All sails set as these two sailboats catch the trade winds and ride the Caribbean waves.  The beauty of full blown colourful spinnakers warms the heart of every sailor at heart. This work drips with water.  Look at the sky.its like looking through wet glasses.
